UNSOM Statement on sacking of Somali Prime Minister

Parliamentary vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister of the Federal Government

Mogadishu, 6 December 2014 – The United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) notes today’s parliamentary vote of no confidence in the Prime Minister of the Federal Government, pays tribute to his work for peacebuilding in Somalia and urges the swift establishment of a new inclusive Government.

SRSG Kay said, “Somalia now needs unity of political purpose between its institutions and leaders and a significant period of stability. The Federal Government and Parliament have important and urgent work to do to help Somalia achieve political, security and development progress in the remaining twenty-one months of their mandate. The United Nations and all Somalia’s friends look forward to the early establishment of a government that is inclusive and representative. I also hope that once a new Government is in place, Somalia’s leaders will reach agreement on how to prevent such crises and instability in the future. I am pleased that the Federal Parliament will now be able to focus in the coming days on the passage of key legislation to enable the political transformation of Somalia, in particular laws establishing the National Independent Electoral Commission and the Boundaries and Federation Commission.”

“The United Nations remains committed to working with the Federal Government and Somalia’s people and political leaders to achieve the objectives set out in the Provisional Constitution, the New Deal Compact for Somalia and Vision 2016. Completing the formation of Federal member states is a major challenge for the coming weeks. It is important that women, youth and under represented groups are enabled to play a full role in these and other political processes,” he added.

Muqdisho, 6 December 2014 – Xafiiska Hawlgalka Qaramada Midoobay ee Kaalmaynta Soomaaliya (UNSOM) wuxuu garwaaqsaday codkii maanta uu baarlamaanku kalsoonida kala noqday Ra’iisal Wasaaraha Dowladda Federaalka Soomaaliya, wuxuu amaanay shaqada uu ka qabtay nabadaynta Soomaaliya, wuxuuna ku baaqayaa in si degdeg ah Xukuumad cusub loo soo dhiso.

Ergeyga Gaarka ah Nicholas Kay wuxuu yiri, “Soomaaliya waxay hadda u baahantahay midnimo siyaasadeed ee dhexmarta hay’adaheeda iyo madaxdeeda iyo marxalad dheer oo xasilloon. Dowladda Federaalka iyo Baarlamaankaba waxaa sugeysa shaqo muhim ah oo degdeg ah si ay gacan uga geystaan inay Soomaaliya gaarto horumar dhanka siyaasadda, amniga iyo dhaqaalaha inta lagu jiro kow iyo labaatanka bilood ee ka hartay xilkooda. Qaramada Midoobay iyo dhammaan saaxiibada Soomaaliya waxay ku hanweynyihiin in dhowaan la sameeyo xukuumad loo wada dhanyahay laga wadaqaybgalo. Waxaan rajeynayaa, marka Xukuumadda la dhiso, in madaxda Soomaaliya ay isla gaari doonaan heshiis ku aaddan sidii looga hortagi lahaa qalalaanso sidaas oo kale ah iyo xasillooni darro dhacda mustaqbalka. Waxaan ku faraxsanahay in Baarlamaanka Federaalka ay hadda suuroobi doonto inuu maalmaha soo socda diiradda saari doono dejinta shuruucda muhimka ah si uu u suurtoobo isbedelka siyaasadeed ee Soomaaliya, gaar ahaan sharciga dhisaya Guddiga Qaranka Madaxabanaan ee Doorashada iyo Guddiga Xudduudaha iyo Federaalaynta.”

“Qaramada Midoobay waxaa weligeed ka go’an inay la shaqeyso Dowladda Federaalka iyo dadka iyo madaxda siyaasadda Soomaaliya si loo gaaro ujeeddooyinka lagu qeexay Dastuurka Ku Meelgaarka, Heshiiska Hiigsiga Cusub ee Soomaaliya iyo Aragtida 2016. In la dhammeystiro dhismaha dowlad-goboleedyada federaalka ah ayaa ah caqabad weyn oo loo bahanyahay in laga gudbo toddobaadyada soo socda. Waxaa muhim ah in haweenka, dhallinyarada iyo kooxaha laga tira badanyahay la siiyo fursad ay kaalin buuxda kaga cayaaraan hanaankan iyo geeddi-socodyada siyaasadeed ee kale,” ayuu raaciyay.
Dhamaad.
